Emma Stone uses Taylor Swift's song lyrics to express love for three-year-old daughter

Emma Stone referenced her close friend Taylor Swift’s song lyrics at her iconic Oscars acceptance speech, telling her three-year-old daughter she “loves her bigger than the whole sky, my girl.”

When the movie star accepted her Best Actress award at the Oscars, she couldn’t help but give credit to a close friend. Taylor Swift‘s song lyrics were mentioned in her acceptance speech – and it was super cute.

When a panicked Emma won best actress for her impressive role in Yorgos Lanthimos’s dark fantasy-comedy Poor Things, she said, “My voice is also a little gone,” adding that she is “so deeply honored”.

Stone then thanked her family, including her parents, her brother, and her husband Dave McCary. “I love you so much,” she said. “And, most importantly, my daughter, who’s gonna be three in three days.”

She said how their daughter “turned our lives technicolour,” before adding, “I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl.” It is a reference to a lyric from Taylor Swift’s song, Bigger Than the Whole Sky.

‘Bigger than the whole sky’ meaning

When Emma said she “loves you bigger than the whole sky,” referencing her three-year-old daughter, she was referencing Taylor’s lyrics in her Midnights (3am Edition) album song, Bigger Than The Whole Sky.

Fans have widely interpreted Bigger Than the Whole Sky as being written about grief or the loss of a loved one, with many theorising that the song is about miscarriage.

Emma and Taylor have been close friends since they met as teenagers and have always widely supported each other in their successful achievements in the entertainment industry.

Taylor Swift’s song, When Emma Falls in Love, is believed to have been written about her teenage friend, Stone, but many fans are convinced. The previously unreleased track was written circa 2010.

Swift sings, “When Emma falls in love, she calls up her mom/ Jokes about the ways that this one could go wrong/ She waits and takes her time/ ‘Cause Little Miss Sunshine always thinks it’s gonna rain.”

“You would have to ask her,” she told Entertainment Tonight of Swift’s song, when asked if she was the main subject, after Theories claimed the song was about her and Spiderman co-star Andrew Garfield.
