This year has been a great one for coming-of-age movies for young girls with movies like Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, Bottoms, and now You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah all releasing within a few months of each other. The latter is the newest of the bunch, arriving on Netflix on August 25. For those curious to get to know the film’s talented cast, keep reading!

You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah is adapted from the book of the same name by Fiona Rosenbloom. The film is already receiving great reviews from critics, with a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s a Sandler affair with Adam joined by his daughters Sadie and Sunny, plus his wife Jackie.

Adam and Jackie Sandler’s daughter, Sunny Sandler, stars in the lead role of pre-teen Stacy Friedman. The 14-year-old actress has previously appeared in several of her dad’s films, such as Pixels, Jack and Jill, and Grown Ups, but this is the first time Sunny is taking the starring role, and she nails it!

Her sister, Sadie Sandler, also stars in the movie as the Friedman family’s elder daughter Ronnie. Like Sunny, Sadie has also appeared in several of her father’s projects, including Bedtime Stories, Pixels, Jack and Jill, and Hotel Transylvania.

Adam Sandler’s wife, Jackie, is also in You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, though she plays Wednesday star Luis Guzmán’s spouse and the mother of Stacy’s best friend Lydia. Like her daughters, Jackie has starred in several Happy Madison productions along with appearances in shows like The King of Queens, Rules of Engagement, and The Goldbergs.

Tony Award-winning actress Idina Menzel, best known for originating the role of Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked and voicing Elsa in Pixar’s Frozen franchise, re-teams with Sandler to play his wife in You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah. She previously played the actor’s wife in the acclaimed film Uncut Gems.

Rounding out the main cast is up-and-coming actress Samantha Lorraine, who portrays Stacy’s best friend Lydia. You might recognize Lorraine from The Walking Dead: World Beyond, where she played the younger version of Hope.
