Zendaya as Joan of Arc in Versace at the Met Gala: dramatic and impressive?

Zendaya somehow manages to pull off the riskiest of looks. She’s a chameleon and she has a skilled stylist, Law Roach, who has helped her stand out at countless events. Roach told Woman’s Wear Daily that the inspiration for this gown came to him in a dream and that he collaborated with Versace’s team. He said “When I knew the theme and Versace, we started the conversation, there were a lot of sketches from Versace and I started thinking about strong women who had a connection to religion. I dreamt of Joan of Arc one night and called Versace and was like, ‘What if we did something to reference Joan of Arc?’ They came back with really, really great sketches.

Shailene Woodley also did Joan of Arc but her Ralph Lauren looked more puffy and quilted. This somehow combines elegance with the flowing train and bell sleeves and strength, with the armoured and riveted shoulders, waistline and collar. The skirt and sleeves look like they’re made of chain mail. I’m so impressed with this gown and this look overall. They even got the hair down.

Dakota Fanning just went with a white Grecian look Miu Miu gown. This is so pretty and her styling is spot on, but I wanted to see more from her.

Do you see Lena Waithe rocking a pride flag as a cape behind Dakota, above? She’s reminding us of the Catholic Church’s stance on homosexuality, which is to declare it sinful and a disorder. They’re not the worst church by any means, Catholics don’t run conversion camps, but they’re not an inclusive religion and they don’t recognize same sex marriages. I just saw Lena in Ready Player One and her career is on fire.
